Source: Carbonite Press Release

A survey from Carbonite revealed that people considered photos as their most valuable files that they have stored on their electronic devices and computers. However, a surprising fact revealed in the study was that as valuable and priceless digital photos are considered to be, a significant number of people are not be backing them up to protect them. Below are some interesting results from the survey:

▪ The Carbonite study revealed that digital cameras remain the top device for taking pictures with 78% of the people surveyed using them.

▪ Cell phones or smartphones are increasingly being used more by people at 59%. Another interesting finding was that two-thirds of people who use their phones to take photos simply leave the photos on their device and do not back them up at all.

▪ For those people who use camcorders, about 50% leave their videos on their device and also do not back them up.

▪ For people who use digital cameras, more than 80% transfer their photos from their cameras to their computers. However, not a lot of people backup their computers in spite of the fact that files can be corrupted or that the incidences of hard drives crashing remains significant.

If people really consider their digital files truly valuable, one of the best ways to protect these is with an online backup service like Carbonite. Carbonite offers unlimited, automated online backup of all the digital files on your computer including photos. In addition, you can access all these files from anywhere at any time via the cloud.
